Salisbury has a population of nearly 24,000 residents, and is one of the largest towns on the eastern shore of Maryland. In 1860, the entire town burned to the ground and was rebuilt from scratch. Today Salisbury is a pretty town with unique local shops, restaurants and historic sites.
There are a number of things to do in Salisbury from spending an afternoon at the Salisbury Zoo, exhibiting over 400 animal species, or driving along the nearby Whitehaven Loop; a 38-mile roadway winding along through marshes and fields?a perfect backdrop for a bike trip or scenic car ride. A visit to Poplar Hill Mansion, one of the only structures spared by the fire of 1860, is a welcome spot for group events and touring.
Salisbury is located in southeastern Maryland, just south of the Delaware border, and west of Ocean City.
