  • Annapolis

Annapolis is the capital of Maryland, and has a small population of just over 36,000 residents. Claiming to have more 18th century buildings than any other city in the United States, Annapolis serves up lots of old world charm. Annapolis is home to the United State Naval Academy, the undergraduate college for the U.S. Navy. The Academy houses the U.S. Naval Museum, both of which draw thousands of tourists each year.

  • Baltimore

Baltimore is the largest and most complex city in Maryland. A city of neighborhoods, Baltimore is a port town, with gorgeous waterfront areas like the stylish Inner Harbor. History and beautiful streets you'll find in neighborhoods like old Belvedere and Mount Vernon. Baltimore is a bustling city, with Fortune 500 businesses scattered across the downtown area, as well as large universities, museums and historical sites.

  • Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge

Located on the eastern shores of Maryland, the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, encompasses 27,000 acres of land. The refuge provides a sanctuary for the endangered Bald Eagle, and the peregrine falcon. Many other species of fowl, and mammal call this refuge home, including otters, foxes, elk and deer. The refuge features a butterfly garden, and a visitor center complete with wildlife exhibits, films, an auditorium for special programs and a gift shop.

  • Cambridge

Cambridge is one of the oldest towns in Maryland, and has a population of nearly 11,000. There are several museums in Cambridge, including the Brannock Maritime Museum and the Richardson Maritime Museum. Sailwinds Park, a $30 million waterfront facility showcases concerts, festivals and other events. Many local events revolve around the town's close proximity to water, and Regattas as well as canoe and skipjack races are popular activities in Cambridge. One of the most predominant features of Cambridge is Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, a sanctuary for endangered animals and birds.

  • Easton

Wye, St. Michaels, Tilghman, and Oxford Islands off the central shores of Maryland, are quiet, sparsely populated islands surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay. Primarily home to watermen, Oxford and Tilghman Islands still harbor many boats along their shores, and residents are proud of its quiet atmosphere. Wye features Pintail Point, a retreat location with fly-fishing classes, deer and duck hunting and a lodge. At Navy Point, in St. Michaels, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is one of the most trafficked attractions in the entire state.

  • Potomac River

The Potomac River flows into the Chesapeake Bay, and is approximately 413 miles long. It runs along the western border of Maryland, past Washington, D.C., Fort Washington Park and separates eastern Virginia from western Maryland. The headwaters of the Potomac River flow through the Potomac State Forest, which occupies 12,000 acres of forest. About fifteen miles northwest of Washington, D.C. is the Great Falls of the Potomac. At Great Falls Park, there are three overlooks showcasing the various vantage points of the falls.
