Easton, Maryland Travel Guide

Complete Vacation, Recreation and Tourism Information

Wye, St. Michaels, Tilghman, and Oxford Islands off the central shores of Maryland, are quiet, sparsely populated islands surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay. Primarily home to watermen, Oxford and Tilghman Islands still harbor many boats along their shores, and residents are proud of its quiet atmosphere.

Wye features Pintail Point, a retreat location with fly-fishing classes, deer and duck hunting and a lodge. There are several seafood restaurants in nearby Kent Island, and St. Michaels is a destination point for fancy yachts and was voted one of America's favorite anchorages.

At Navy Point, in St. Michaels, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is one of the most trafficked attractions in the entire state. The museum covers eighteen acres and features boat exhibits, historic vessels and year round events. The Hooper Strait Lighthouse is on display at the museum and is a popular attraction.

Easton is a small town of 11,000 inhabitants just inland from the islands on the bay. The town features a prominent art center, with popular local theater and art houses, as well as a number of unique antique shops and old fashioned soda fountains and taverns in and around the town center.

The islands are located in the Chesapeake Bay off the central coast of Maryland, and Easton is located southwest of Queen Anne toward the shore of the bay.
