Maryland's Scenic Drives

The Baltimore-Washington Parkway is a grandly federal kind of road, a long park-like stretch from Maryland into the nation's capital city, but Maryland is not only the gateway to Washington D.C. That it is all but criss-crossed by scenic drives is indicative of how much there is to see here. Historical sites are in abundance, of course, as Maryland has a long and storied history that it's preserved well. Everything from artifacts from America's most ancient cultures to artifacts of Maryland's Life Saving Service, the Coast Guard's precursor, are here. You'll also want to check out the many beaches and rivers; this is a prime canoeing spot for a reason.
