Hagerstown, Maryland Travel Guide

Complete Vacation, Recreation and Tourism Information

Hagerstown is a quiet city of 36,000 people on the edge of the Washington-Baltimore Metropolitan Area. The city is rich in history, with its varied museums, and serves as a prime spot for recreation with a number of parks in the area.

Several museums and historical houses are found in Hagerstown, from Hager House to the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. Hager House was once home to the founder of the city, and has been restored to reflect its original colonial handiwork. The art museum showcases work by American artists, and the Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum features a history of the Western Maryland Railroad.

The area farmer's market, Hagerstown City Farmer's Market, is very popular among the locals, as well as the Maryland Theater, which offers musical and theatrical performance all year round. Antiquing is available at the town's antique market, and plenty of parks and golf courses are located in and around the city. The Hagerstown Speedway is a great place for racecar lovers to enjoy the sport, and it's a big draw for dirt racing fans as well.

Hagerstown is located in the northwestern region of Maryland and is known as the "hub city," with many interstate and US routes running through the area, as well as the Western Maryland Railroad.
