  • Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge

Located on the eastern shores of Maryland, the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, encompasses 27,000 acres of land. The refuge provides a sanctuary for the endangered Bald Eagle, and the peregrine falcon. Many other species of fowl, and mammal call this refuge home, including otters, foxes, elk and deer. The refuge features a butterfly garden, and a visitor center complete with wildlife exhibits, films, an auditorium for special programs and a gift shop.

Wye, St. Michaels, Tilghman, and Oxford Islands off the central shores of Maryland, are quiet, sparsely populated islands surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay. Primarily home to watermen, Oxford and Tilghman Islands still harbor many boats along their shores, and residents are proud of its quiet atmosphere. Wye features Pintail Point, a retreat location with fly-fishing classes, deer and duck hunting and a lodge. At Navy Point, in St. Michaels, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is one of the most trafficked attractions in the entire state.

Salisbury is a pretty town with unique local shops, restaurants and historic sites. There are a number of things to do in Salisbury from spending an afternoon at the Salisbury Zoo, exhibiting over 400 animal species, or driving along the nearby Whitehaven Loop; a 38-mile roadway winding along through marshes and fields.
